Jeff Modell

Jeff Modell is Chief Information Officer (CIO) most recently served as the CIO at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, Austria. Its motto of “Atoms for Peace and Development” encapsulates IAEA’s mission within the overall UN System. His direct team included 100 staff representing 29 countries, and he is proud to have built a high-performing, gender-balanced team during his tenure.

Before IAEA, Jeff worked in senior IT leadership positions at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the American Red Cross, and The Washington Post. He earned bachelor’s degrees in economics and computer science and engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and has a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Colorado State University Global.

Jeff, his wife, his two daughters (now both in college), and two dogs moved from Washington, DC, to Vienna, Austria, over eight years ago. They loved the experience of living in Vienna and traveling around Europe. Jeff is a cyclist, having ridden the beautiful 205-mile Passau, Germany to Vienna trail six times over the years. He is also a lapsed private pilot. Once back in the U.S., Jeff plans to volunteer by helping people register to vote and get to the polls on election days.
