Marion Lanteri, Ph.D.

Marion Lanteri, Ph.D., is CTS’s Vice President of Scientific Affairs. She oversees the Research and Development Support department. Marion is responsible for all CTS’s scientific activities, clinical trials, research, data collection, analysis, and publication.

Marion comes to us after six years with the Cerus Corporation, most recently as their Senior Scientific and Medical Affairs Director. Before that time, she served 12 years with Blood Systems Research Institute (now Vitalant Research Institute) in San Francisco, beginning as a post-doctoral student researching immunology. She specialized in West Nile, dengue, and Zika virus research, pursuing her interest in emerging infectious diseases and blood safety.

Her resume includes time as an Assistant Adjunct Professor in the Department of Laboratory Medicine at the University of California San Francisco, a position she continues to hold. She also served as an investigator and the study coordinator for the Central Laboratory of the Recipient Epidemiology and Donor Evaluation Study (REDS) III Program.

Marion earned her Ph.D. in molecular biology and virology, studying HIV at the University of Nice Sophia-Antipolis in France. She is a member of the American Society for Virology, the Association for the Advancement of Blood and Biotherapies, and the International Society of Blood Transfusion. At ISBT, she served as the Transfusion Transmitted Infectious Diseases working group party secretary from 2015-16 and was elected as a corporate member representative in 2020. Marion has authored or co-authored over 60 peer-reviewed publications.

When she is not working, Marion can be found outdoors with her small dog and friends, hiking, kayaking, or skiing in the San Francisco Bay Area. She also enjoys cooking, hosting family, and serving her community on the Hills of Tiburon as a dedicated HOA board member.
