George "Bud" Scholl

As President and Chief Executive Officer of OneBlood, George “Bud” Scholl brings diverse experience and knowledge to the organization from positions as a healthcare executive, entrepreneur, developer, technology expert and turnaround specialist. Prior to the OneBlood merger, Bud served as chief executive officer of Community Blood Centers of Florida, a position he assumed after serving on the board of directors for ten years. He currently serves as a director and Treasurer of America’s Blood Centers, as the chair of the HemeXcel Purchasing Alliance and as a director and President of the Florida Association of Blood Banks. He formally served as a director of the South Central Association of Blood Banks.

Prior to his involvement in blood banking Bud was an entrepreneur for more than thirty years. He developed and renovated mixed-use medical office buildings and multi-family complexes. He spearheaded the successful turnaround of a number of distressed assets and was a founding director and CEO of a South Florida based community commercial bank.

Bud’s civic engagement includes his current role as Mayor of the City of Sunny Isles Beach. For seven years prior to his election as Mayor, he served as a City Commissioner. Bud was a member of the IT and Telecommunications Committee of the Board of Commissioners of Broward Health, one of the five largest hospital districts in the United States. His eight year tenure included overseeing telecommunications, IT planning, integration and systems purchasing for the public hospital district.

Bud is a graduate of the University of Florida and holds an engineering degree (BSE) in computer science.
