On May 9, 2019 the Food and Drug Administration issued a “Recommendations for Reducing the Risk of Transfusion-Transmitted Babesiosis” guidance document with a maximum 12 month implementation timeline. Per the FDA guidance document recommendations, CTS is developing a specific implementation plan for mandatory Babesia testing well before the May 8, 2020 deadline. Check out the Communication page for the complete details by clicking the link:
As a service to our partners, CTS provides a copy of all licenses and accreditations on our website. Many of the licenses have recently renewed and are now available. On a related note, the FDA registrations are in a new format beginning in 2019 and have also moved to using standard dates, with each registration beginning on 01/01 and ending 12/31 of each year. As a friendly reminder, airlines often change their routine flights and cargo hours for holidays. We recommend you check with your couriers, airline carriers, and Fed-Ex or UPS if applicable to verify hours for the upcoming 4th of July so that you can avoid any issues with transportation of your samples to CTS. CTS Dallas and Phoenix Labs successfully implemented WNV NAT testing on the Panther Testing Platform on Monday, June 17th. As previously communicated, the Grifols assay and sample requirements are the same, and the package insert has been modified to state the assay is specific to the Panther Testing Platform. The new package insert, assay history list, and platform history list are now available on our website.    
CTS received notification from Sanochemia Pharmazeutika AG of their intent to immediately discontinue production of Fluorognost HIV-1 IFA test kits routinely used for confirmation of HIV-1 antibody-reactive donations. Based on our current testing volume, CTS has sufficient HIV-1 IFA reagent inventory to continue performing this confirmatory test through the end of August 2019.Check out the Communication page for the complete details on the updated IFA HIV-1 assay or by clicking the link:
On June 13, 2019, the new CTS Laboratory Information System was successfully implemented in Charlotte. We have completed any pending result uploads and resumed scheduled result uploads. Congratulations on this important success!    
Seasonal monitoring of epidemic triggers for West Nile Virus (WNV) NAT tested donations will begin June 1 and continue through October 31, 2019. Should your facility have a reactive donation, CTS will send the WNV Alert email to inform you of your WNV reactive samples and request donor information. Reminder test emails for the Health and Human Services (HHS) email notifications for WNV reactives have been sent for email changes. Please respond with any desired changes by May 10th, 2019. If no change is needed, no further action is required. The final email distribution list will be provided the week of May 20th, 2019.
